Eight years have passed since together with our traveling companion Jonathan Martineau we have been feeding this mutual adventure of fiercely interweaving the body with its environment, un_drawing landscapes that bustle in its evanescence.
We propose an immersion to the bones and the subconscious and we understand that the mountain, the rivers, the trees, the insects, the silence constitute the ideal atelier to carry out our research. We only know the body if we explore it in relation to the world.
The workshop brings together two works, the art of being born of the butosofia developed by Jonathan and our explorations around espaciopropio.augenblick, that throughout the days they merge into each other releasing a renewing movement and unsuspected dances. On the one hand, there is a journey towards the bones to connect with the deep structure of our living organism. On the other hand, we invite a submersion in the subconscious world to allow the transformation of our life. We will give ourselves to our own space, common and nascent in the heart of the hills of la Vera, welcomed by the rest of the giant rocks, the murmur of the ancient oaks, the mischief of the rivers with clear and crystalline waters and the superb majesty of the high mountain starry skies. For three years we were welcomed with great gratitude by the region of La Vera, in the Sierras de Gredos, Spain.
Last year we have celebrated the 8th Edition together with a group of explorers with whom we moved to Yeste, Valle de Tus in Albacete. There we were able to discover the surprising beauty that nests in these unknown places. It has been a journey that has left deep and fruitful resonances during these peculiar times and leaves us with the flavor of the return, as the 9th Edition is already being prepared for July 2024.
Life is a geological force. What most beautiful image of the bones as constituting a geology submerged in our body, offering support in a hidden and silent way. The invitation during these days is to surrender to its mystery, proposing a practice of movement that extends the daily and expressive use of ourselves. The journey begins by guiding attention to the structure of bone support, connecting with its presence from the deepest layers, releasing blockages, investigating our experiences as material and energetic bodies, singular and collective, interrelated and awake to the surrounding multiplicity. We dialogue with gravity as a primary impulse, open to rediscover moving spaces and experience a new perspective in which a conscious observation is the driver.
We are consciousness in movement, matter reorganizing and vibration in constant transformation.
Butosofia. The art of being born
The world only exists by being born. We, collectively and individually, are part of this world in continuous birth, overflowing beyond its known limits. As part of the life that springs and the subconscious that pushes, the dance becomes liberation. I do not imagine a more ideal environment than the forests of oaks and rivers that populate the mountains of the Valle de Tus and it will be difficult to find better care than those offered from Casas Rural Piedra la Ventana to venture safely and joyfully towards the most valuable of our Common existence: the subconscious world.
On the third edition of the workshop, the proposals revolved around the idea that our dance serves as a bridge between an oniric and incommunicable world that underlies our subject matter and the conventional collective sphere. The scenic space becomes an altar where we allow a collective transformation to take place through our bodies.
The body and its World... and vice-versa!
We met in 2009, when espaciopropio.augenblick was already traveling around the world and the word butosofía still did not exist. In fact, it might never have existed without this catalytic encounter. We conceive dance and movement as an existential research where individuals can get to know each other better and therefore to enjoy a freedom closer to the truth. At the same time, the knowledge acquired about oneself learns to contemplate oneself wrapped up in a greater world, in a collective world, alive and dynamic. Exploring yourself consciously generates liberation in the world that becomes habitable again.
Butosofía and espaciopropio.augenblick have continued to nurture and exchange information and practices since 2009. Together, we have created the pieces for the scene Crucifluxión (2013) and Tre3 (2015). We have collaborated in the organization and facilitation of two workshops of Subbody Butoh in El Cielo de la Vera in 2015 and 2016.
We are proud to continue presenting this experiential workshop The Body in Its World, a long gestation pedagogical collaboration, enriched by the experience of previous editions that have far exceeded our hopes, the most beautiful.
Something beautiful continues to be born and we welcome all the people who want to be part of it. The Body in its World in its Eighth Edition during the European summer 2024 is already cooking: from July 14th to 2st1 in the Valley of Tús. Save the dates and see you there!
